Veaux Artist of the Week!! Lys Lydia Selimalhigazi
Based in Paris, Lys combines various media such as drawn and written elements, then scans with polaroid photographs, collages, old style pictures, engravings to create her personal work--these wonderful illustrations. Retro and dreamlike, Veaux became an instant fan. Just 25 years old with a Masters in graphic design, she currently works as an artistic director/graphic designer in the print business. Though we are sure she'd love to make her living on her own personal work. What artist/designer wouldn't??
Please check out her work at http://veaux.org

Paul Richmond's fabulous contemporary surrealist paintings
And we mean fabulous! His newest piece The Cher Within is described in his own words, "the magical moment when a drag performer prepares to cross the line between ambiguous guy in his underwear to full-on diva extraordinaire." Short and simple! We discovered his amazing talent when his piece entitled Batobama and Robiden was being circulated before election time on facebook. We became obsessed!
He sells his work on etsy soooo.... Buy, Buy, Buy!
This guy is amazing!

Magazine Death Pool
We hate to say it, but print is dying. Truly. People like tangible things which is the consensus, but these times are a changin'...it's like photographers who hate seeing the death of the polaroid. And one insider to print and publications- anonymously the grim reaper has a blog called magazinedeathpool.com. Even Allure magazine may see its demise (so we hear). The internet is where it's at. Even as Veaux continues on, we can't help but think that the one thing that is going, going, gone is true connections with people. Remember meeting someone face to face? Oh yeah, we forgot too.
